PAT BUCHANAN'S MAG CLAIMS CHENEY PREPARING TACTICAL NUKE STRIKE ON IRAN
Now, here's an interesting little tid-bit, considering the source: Pat Buchanan's magazine, American Conservative, has published a report saying that Dick Cheney
has had the Pentagon prepare a contingency plan for an immediate air strike on Iran, including the use of tactical nuclear weapons, in the event of "another 9/11."
The report, in Buchanan's mag's "Deep Background" column, claims: "In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States. Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing—that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack—but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections."
This report is signed by one Philip Giraldi, who is identified as "a former CIA Officer, [and] a partner in Cannistraro Associates." This makes it even more interesting -- for the head of Cannistraro Associates is none other than former CIA
counter-terrorism chief Vince Cannistraro (right), who was also Director for Intelligence Programs at the National Security Council under President Reagan, former Special Assistant for Intelligence in the office of the Secretary of Defense, and whose face you've seen a lot on TV -- he's currently a consultant to ABC News on intelligence and terrorism.
Now, I'm always mindful of the old saw that military intelligence is to intelligence as military music is to music -- and the blame-shifting between Cheney and his cronies and the CIA for intelligence failures in Iraq has led to a lot of bad blood between Langley types, past and present, and the Veep's office. But, while one wouldn't necessarily trust the ears of Cannistraro and his cronies when it comes to sussing out matters abroad, one wouldn't be wrong in thinking that the fact that this well-placed prominent veteran of a lifetime in the U.S. national security apparatus spent a lot of time at the highest levels of the intelligence community gives him and his subordinates access to some pretty juicy Pentagon gossip.
It will be interesting to see if some major news organization -- ABC News, for example, Cannistraro's employer -- tries to run this story to ground to see if it's true.
P.S. A conspiracy theorist named Jeff Rense, who promotes the notorious Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel on his blog, linked to the above post, and in consequence some anti-Semites have been leaving comments on my blog. Don't waste your time, brown-shirts: anti-Semites are not welcome on DIRELAND, and your comments will be deleted as soon as I see them.

Re: Rense and Ernst Zundel
Rense does not "promote" Zundel. He only objects to Mr. Zundel's being JAILED in Canada for promoting an opinion.
Also, Mr. Zundel is not an anti-semite. He only objects to the official number of Jews killed in WWII. That does NOT make him an anti-semite.
Get your facts straight Mr. Ireland.

Here's a strange link. It seems the government was practising port castrophies when New Orleans was washed away.
It's good to see they're on top of these things with war games, just like they were on July 7, 2005 and September 11, 2001.

Bush and his neocon Cronies along with CNN, Fox, ABC and every other News Network have brainwashed all the American people to the point that they believe what they hear on the News. All the news that you Americans get is what they want you to hear (Lies and more lies).
Wake up people and use your brains. See what has Bush turned the USA in to a third world ghetto where they can not feed and help the sick and dying in their own backyard in New Orleans and you guys think that Americans are rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan. I dont think so, It is Bush Chenny and the Big business like Halliburton that is milking the American Taxpayers.
Wake up people.

Sorry sir, but the Plains of Meggiddo are in Israel, not Iran, unless you are speaking metaphorically. Check the map. Not a flame bro. Iran is a great target for these loonies, as they truly believe all the shit they put out to the sheeple as what is right for this country. Imoh, Haliburton & all neoCON co-conspirators getting mo money, mo money, mo money.
Don't forget *power* as well, it is very intoxicating to these toons as is
"Divine Guidence". The man can't even eat a peanut without choking...
Thanks to all who can see what is happening, perhaps we are having a slow but steady awakening to reality? We are in big trouble folks!
Please don't kill Bush. Then we will have to contened with Cheney or even worse, Rumsfeld. Think people. A true waste of a bullet as well. Thro him a peanut or put him on a mountain bike at the *ranch*.
"Terror attacks": It truly is when, not if!
Btw, where is your local civil defense nuke/bio shelter? Oh, sorry my bad, the US gov. has phased them out, as we citizens are not worth saving. Interesting that China, Russia, Swiss or Swedes & many other countries have built their own massive nuke/bio shelters capable of sustaining thousands of people during such "terrorist attacks". Thank goodness for COG (continuance of government)and all our "selected/elected officials" having nuke/bio shelters, I feel better already. No worry of MAD (mutal assured destruction) anymore by nukes lol, we will be a burning hole as someone else posted earlier, a one way radioactive street we all used to live on. Can't ya just smell that DU dust, we must get rid of that extra ammo, our ammunition factories are going broke damnit! Get out the duct tape kids & listen to the nice soldiers, UN (lol) or otherwise. Good Luck to all, in our nation & the world.
Resist! Covertly organize! Re-take the government for The People! Prayer.
Fight the madness. Read The Constitution! Arm yourselves! Tell everyone who is "Rushed" into believing the false propaganda. End the false two party system & strive for real leadersip from many voices that are *heard*.
End the policy of non-responsible corporate America, who appears to really
be choosing a lot of what is happening now, not just the gov. Mo money baby. Remeber this the next time you call for computer help & it is outsourced to India, where they cannot even understand English & read the script worse than even American tech help used to. I have not spoken to any tech support in the last three yrs. which wasn't outsourced. Those used to be jobs here. I am an IT professional and it is irritating to say the least, but my job is good as long as I am willing to learn, no problemo as I do learn & even evolve. rotfl
Please keep in mind that if you attend politcal functions (except neocon/conservative), activist activities (enviro., animal, human, ect.) or jsut walk around in metro areas, you are being photographed, videotaped and filed for future reference. Zorro's mask lives again lol
Everywhere it seems like there are always comments of the obvious, but rarely any sugestions for real change or solutions. These reside in you, The People of the United States.
Your move, your future.
Sorry about the looong rant, couldn't resist.
Flames, positive ideas glady accepted.

According to the Bush doctrine Iran is rightfully entitled to attack the United States preventively and it might be argued it is entitled under International Law to attack the United States pre-emptively as it is a clear cut case that, from intelligence that is already in the public domain, a collection of publicly announced very serious threats by US government officials and the extremely aggressive neocon lunatics in the perifery of the US government, the near completion of the buildup of surrounding United States troops, the US backed, protected and financed terrorists of the marxist-islamist sect of mujahedeen Khalq as a proxy force (better known as 'Iranian dissidents' in MSM circles) and the list goes on ad infinitum, that the United States poses an imminent threat to the Iranian national security.
Good for the Bushistanians hypocrisy is their number one virtue.

What is more alarming than this report, is what BushCheneyCo would "be forced" to do in order to get the American People "on board" to support an attack on Iran.
About the only thing they could do is "hope" that "Iran" would "suicidally" "attack" the US in another "9-11" "surprise" "attack" on America, preferably nuclear.

THE WELL-OILED MACHINE OF WAR
The glittering merry-go-round
Will go round and round
'Til the crimson blood of war
Shall no longer confound.
IN A HAND BASKET GOING TO HELL
At his news conference in Brussels George W. Bush made a crowd laugh. He said, "This notion that the United States is getting ready to bomb Iran is simply ridiculous." Then he added: "Having said that, all options are on the table."
Sound familiar? Remember when George W. Bush tried to be funny at the 60th annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association: "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere."
If George W. Bush does bomb Iran, as some pundits believe he will, thereby once AGAIN ignoring allies who are trying to deal with Iran diplomatically, then it will give more credibility to the perception by some that George W. Bush is becoming quite as dangerous as the terror he has vowed to protect us from, and that he is placing our nation in even greater peril.
After Iran is bombed, that leaves just one more country in the Evil Axis, North Korea. However, they do not have any petroleum, just nukes, and George W. Bush does not want their nukes.
This next impending and bellicose blunder by George W. Bush is certain to fling more gas on the flaming hatred and burgeoning jihad of Islam, and is certain to make Usama bin Laden an even happier happy camper.
Many years ago I was told by an engineer who worked for a major corporation that developed "stuff" which the Pentagon then launched into space, "You wouldn’t believe the things we have up there." When I repeatedly asked him "What things?" he repeatedly told me that he could not tell me. He said, "They would know if I told you." The conversation ended when he said, "We are all in a hand basket going to hell. I just want to go back to my farm."
Most of us cannot go back to the farm. Nevertheless, George W. Bush will be locking America up in an implacable hand basket, impelled by stubborn hubris, a leaden ego, and bellicose bravado if he gives us another war. Bring the troops home.

All one has to do is read the PNAC agenda. Hey, isn't this type of thing ILLEGAL? Wars of agression like Hitlers invasion of europe were always viewed as dictatorships. So tell me, why on earth is it any different today?
I think we Americans are spending too much time eating Mcdonalds and drinking beer!

Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran
Oh bomb Iran, bomb bomb Iran!
Posted by: Paul Lyon | Aug 25, 2005 5:53:39 PM
I've said it elsewhere, and maybe I'm wrong (at least I hope I'm wrong,) but I still think that the only reason that the NeoCon Conspiracy decided to invade Iraq, and is preparing to invade Iran, is because that's where the Plains of Megiddo are. The oil money, the fixed contracts, and the dead minority kids are just sugar on top of that.

"Of course, I'm pretending that our administration would actually care who the culprit was when the US is attacked again."
If the administration cared about the actual culprits, Saudi Arabia would be radioactive by now. Of course, if they drop 450 nukes on Iran, and the wind is in the right direction, the fall-out will do the trick for them. The next "terrorist" attack, though, is unlikely to be sourced to any actual "terrorists," unless you consider Cheney and the PNAC crew to be terrorists.
Posted by: Basharov | Aug 25, 2005 12:39:24 PM
I've been hearing lately about a "terrorist drill" supposed to be scheduled for September in Charleston harbor that involves a backpack nuke. Anyone heard anything more about that rumor and how it might dovetail with this report?
Posted by: Rick | Aug 25, 2005 10:59:42 AM
Give me a break. The Pentagon probably has plans for a tactical nuking of Canada in the event of a water shortage in the California vineyards.
It's what they do. They're the military. Wargaming is their business.
Posted by: Fizzbin | Aug 25, 2005 10:55:48 AM
WHY are we nOT SURPRISED!
Many of us have always believed Cheney is the ACTUAL PREZ, that he engineered the first 9/11, that there WILL be another 9/11 now that Bush's numbers are in the tOILET again, and that the only way the Neocons EVER planned to get out of Iraq is THROUGH IRAN!
Are you 'Conservatives" Happy yet?

Hey... they haven't finished carrying out the plan laid out by PNAC - no surprise there, but still, this is scarey - WWIII stuff potentially.
Posted by: Kevin | Aug 25, 2005 10:34:08 AM
As if Iran would actually attack the US. We may not like their leadership, but they're not suicidal.
Of course, I'm pretending that our administration would actually care who the culprit was when the US is attacked again. It's all just an opportunity to settle old scores, after all.
